What we are looking for:
FORGEX is looking for engineers who have demonstrated sound, high quality mechanical design engineering work. We are looking for engineers who also simply love mechanical engineering and product development. Our current needs are for full time and part time senior level positions. Compensation is commensurate with relevant knowledge, experience and technical abilities.
About the job:
FORGEX provides mechanical design engineering consultants to our clients, who require skilled design engineering support for their product development projects. We work primarily in consumer electronics, robotids, medical device, and audio industries. Our engineers work remotely and / or at the client’s site, on a project basis. The Product/Mechanical Design Engineer’s role is as follows:
Responsibilities:
Mechanical ideation, design, analysis, and prototyping for clients’ projects
Drive identification of problems as well as required engineering solutions
Planning, communication, and management of mechanical risks that are required to develop mechanical designs
Assume a high level of ownership and responsibility for your work, under the technical direction of your client and with the full support of your FORGEX coach and team
Adherence to all FORGEX policies and procedures to maintain a high level of security and confidentiality with clients’ data and information where required
Essential Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, a related field, or equivalent practical experience
4+ years of relevant experience in a Product Development (or comparable) work setting
Ability to work remotely and onsite, as required, at FORGEX office or the client’s worksite
Desire for learning, growth, and development in your career as an engineer
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or a related field
Effective verbal, written, and visual communicator
Experience designing for common production processes (injection molding, machining, sheet metal stamping, PCBA)
Proficiency with 3D CAD (Creo, SolidWorks, Onshape preferred) and developing 2D drawings
Hands on (prototyping, debugging, failure analysis, and genearal shop) skills
First principles problem solving skills
Experience doing engineering analysis (e.g. tolerance stackup analysis, FEA, FBD, thermal…)
Experience with all stages of product development from concept through production ramp
Knowledge of DFx principles and implementation
Experience with development and implementation of standard tooling, fixturing and manufacturing processes
Experience designing for additional production processes (e.g. die casting, MIM extrusion, forging, etc…)
Ability to occasionally travel domestically and internationally
Demonstrated ability to work remotely and autonomously
